Mantilla de las Mullas

The Albergue where we were requested we leave no sooner than 6:30.  It was a little late as we are doing 30 kilometers today but it is pretty flat.  We have made good time and it was a beautiful sunrise.

We are into adobe country

The shadows are still there.

The monuments show up periodically piled up with rocks.  I think they represent the burdens we carry and are trying to leave behind.

The farmers are out working today clearing and fertilizing.  The equipment is big.

Feet continue to require attention and that is clear on this break.

We thought we had seen a pilgrim's pack in a field, but it turned out to be a balloon.

I continue to be impressed with how the communities welcome the pilgrims.  The following picture is of a water tower with a pilgrim on the side - you may need to enlarge it for the full picture.

We again spent some time at the Elvis Bar.  This is an incredible place and the operator is a character and an artist.

We then did our exercise at the local park.

At this point Brian was reminded of the need to check everything whenever we start out.  He had to go back to the Elvis bar for his walking sticks which he left behind.  We have all done this at various points but discovered the loss before going too far.

Kevin started with us this morning and then chose to go on ahead and will not be with us tonight.  I think he will rejoin us in Leon.

Whenever however

Our alberque for tonight. The same one as last year where the emergency lighting system came on in the middle of the night and the person tinning this place was not here to fix it. We almost had the light bulbs out by the time the person came to fix it. Hope a for a better night tonight.

We are in town and have cleaned up.  Tomorrow will be the walk into our next big town - Leon.

We had a very pleasant dinner with a couple from Vancouver island.

The Camino continues and we are now over half way.
