Castrojeriz

We left our albergue in Hornillos at 6 this morning and walked in the dark and cool fog for at least 1.5 hours. We walked at least 12 km before we came upon a bar. Two coffee's and a chocolate croissant later I felt much better. 8 km later we reach our destination of Castrojeriz. An amazing ancient town on the camino. Brian has has no symptoms of blisters just tired feet, so we are all happy about that. We found a advertisement for albergue that had a four person room. A beautiful newley  remodeled home converted to an albergue.
Ruins of a 12th century convent the helped pilgrims.
Castrojeriz and Templar castle above.

After we cleaned up we went to the "house of the soul". It's a house that is sort of a meditative place whet this person has it open to the public to pass on good messages. Here a a few shots of it.

We, not Guy, went up to the castle. It was started in the 9th century. And was in continuous use until the 17 th century when there was an earthquake and it was abandoned.
Well as our luck would have it was unlocked as compaired to last year when it was locked up.
We had the place to ourselves and with the placards in Spanish we had a great tour.

We were going to have a small dinner tonight but it turned out to be a pilgrem dinner.
Nine pm and we're in bed. 5:30 comes early. 25 km and we want to beat some of the heat tomorrow afternoon.
