Acebo

Today according to Werner's pedometer we stepped more than 39000 steps. We went over the second set of montains on the camino. Another beautiful sunrise and  day.

Crocus like flowers

We walked over 29 km and were fairly well exhausted when we got here. We had planned to stop at an albergue 7 km less than here where it is reputed to be the most basic on the camino. We went into the place and asked if there was room for 7 people. He responded that the bathroom/ outhouse was across the street, there was no heat, no hot water and just mats. We new this was a basic place and thought it would be an experience but when he made it clear we wouldn't like it we decided to move on another 7 km.
Here is where we were going to stay.

Before this we stopped at the Cruz de Ferro which is an ancient place where people have placed stones to on a pile as  a symbolic token of a release of a burdon or for a special intention. It's a powerful place to see when you see all the stones, some of which have written notes on them. It has been used since Roman/ pre Ronan times.

The west side of this mountain range is way more pronounced than the east side since the is the high plateau of the Meseta.

Coming into Acebo
Acebo

We met up with Kevin here and plan to walk together part of tomorrow. It sounds like he has been having a great time.
The weather is predicted to get more cloudy with some rain for the next few days.
