Orrison in the Pyrenees

9:15 pm powers is out at our alberque half way up the Pyrenees mountains due to an electrical storm that has been going on for an hour and a half. No sign of let up. In bed now with the window open enjoying the lights and sounds.
We started out this morn from St Jean Pied de Port which is a very quaint small walled town dating back hundreds of years. A steep 8km walk later we we at our destination of Orrison which is a refuge for about 40 people. I brought two packages of smoked salmon I made and shared it with several people. We had a fun afternoon meeting people we will be walking with for several weeks. By the way it was a mostly sunny and warm day with incredible views of the mountains and low lands below.
I was concerned that the people we met today could not compair to those of last year but in a different way they are great people and we should have great times to come.
I hope this storm passes and is as forecasted nice tomorrow for our crossing.
Sooa the Korean lady we met last night could not get a bed here today and had to keep going on over the mountains. I hope we see her again.
Sooa has a pair of pants she likes that got a hole, so her sister made a patch for her.

On the way up.
Some of is relaxing.
View from Orrison.
Our dinner table. Fact: out of the 46 people here at Orrison 7 are from Seattle.

Here it is 6:15am getting ready to have breakfast befor we leave. Windy but clear sky's. The stars and crescent moon are a beautiful sight to see.

  1. Goose bumps. The photo of where the path joins the pavement is the exact spot Morgan and I met you folks last year.
